BRAND STORY
1.Who we are
OHU – OH YOU MADE MY DAY is a Hong Kong–based cat‑lover culture T‑shirt brand, creating story‑driven designs primarily for cat lovers. We turn Hong Kong daily life, human‑cat stories and street culture into illustrations and copy, so cat owners can literally “wear the stories they share with their cats” on the streets.
At the same time, we are gradually expanding into dog and broader pet themes, so more pet lovers can wear the stories they share with their own companions.
2.How we started
OHU was founded by Hong Kong designer Ah Muk, who first documented everyday moments between people and animals through ink‑wash and illustration.
Over the years, we evolved from an art‑driven illustration label into a T‑shirt specialty store focused on cat‑lover culture, and later extended into dog‑lover and pet‑culture themes—always with one focus: designing story‑based pet‑culture apparel.
3.Our core idea
The core of OHU is to transform real interactions between humans and cats into wearable stories—for example community cats in Tai O, shop cats in local markets, and “the boss at home”.
Building on this foundation, we also capture everyday moments between humans and dogs, so dog owners can wear pieces that feel like “this is exactly about me and my dog”.
Our designs blend local Cantonese expressions, playful copywriting and detailed illustrations, aiming to make every cat lover and dog lover smile and think, “This shirt is talking about me and my pet.”
4.Hong Kong and community cats
Much of our inspiration comes from Hong Kong, especially community cats and street cats—such as the “Tai O Cat Sutra” project, which uses T‑shirts to introduce community cats, shop cats and conservation stories in the fishing village of Tai O. We believe community cats and street cats are not just scenery but part of the neighbourhood, and we use design to promote responsible cat care and respect for the spaces they live in.
(When you have more dog‑community stories in future, you can add a second paragraph here focused on dogs.)
5.Design and quality
Every OHU T‑shirt is handled by our small team, from theme development and illustration design to fit testing and print quality.
We use soft, durable cotton fabrics, including Japanese cotton, and relaxed unisex fits designed for different body types of cat lovers and dog lovers, so people can comfortably wear OHU every day.
6.From Hong Kong to Asia
OHU is rooted in Central Market in Hong Kong and appears at design fairs in places like Singapore and Taiwan, introducing more Asian cat lovers to Hong Kong’s human‑cat stories. Our hope is simple: when people talk about a “Hong Kong cat lover T‑shirt brand”, OH YOU MADE MY DAY naturally comes to mind—and through our designs, they fall in love again with this city and its cats, while we gradually welcome more dog lovers into the story as well.
7. Shopping experience & service promise
At OHU, a story‑driven T‑shirt or accessory is not only about sincere design – the entire shopping experience should feel reassuring too. For customers in Hong Kong, we offer free or discounted local shipping options, and size exchanges in person at our store within 14 days (as long as the item is unwashed, undamaged and in its original packaging), giving you plenty of time to try it on, style it and even take photos with your cat. If you ever have questions about sizing, gift ideas or order arrangements, you’re always welcome to contact our small team via social media or email – we’ll reply with the same care and warmth that we put into every design.
8. Design awards & professional recognition
Led by Hong Kong designer Elvis, OHU is not only focused on cat‑lover culture and pet stories, but has also been recognised on international and Asian design stages. In 2025, our project “HK Cultural CAT LOVER Tshirt Brand – OH YOU MADE MY DAY” received the ISDA International Sustainable Design Awards 2025 – Global Excellence Award, recognising OHU’s ability to combine aesthetics, storytelling and sustainability in apparel design.
In the same period, OHU was also honoured with a Merit Award in the DFA Design for Asia Awards 2024 – Fashion & Accessory Design | Fashion Apparel category, where our cat‑lover T‑shirt collection was selected as one of the designs that embody Asian aesthetics and culture and positively influence design trends in Asia.
